1,000 Songs?!

Those who know me can attest to the fact that I am highly—some might say unreasonably—motivated by merit badges, tokens, and other arguably-inconsequential markers of achievement. When I was getting my degrees, for example, my drive to maintain a 4.0 GPA was not because I wanted to excel academically, but because if I graduated summa cum laude then I got gold tassels to wear at graduation. Things like that.

So when I checked my spreadsheet of songs and saw that I had not yet written 1,000 songs (unbelievable!) but could feasibly reach that beautiful four-digit finish line by the end of the year, it became my new goal. It's not a cred booster, I can't put it on a résumé, in the geological scope of time it couldn't possibly matter less. But here I am, and the hyperfixation has set in, and now all I have to do is write 1-2 songs a day until the end of the year, so that's my new plan.

Keep an eye out on the songs portion of this fancy new website to hear what on earth I'm doing.
